Carrie Murray-Sprague, Council Committee Coordinator, made a presentation and received committee member comments on the 2026 Municipal Election Research findings and decision making criteria for voting methods and accessible voting service enhancements.

    That the members of the AAC receive the information provided by the City Clerk’s Office relating to alternative voting methods and accessible voting service enhancements.

    And that the members of the AAC recommend the addition of the question: Does not offering the voting method, disenfranchise people? to the City Clerk's Office regarding the decision making criteria to evaluate the voting methods and enhancements.

Christina Vannelli, Park Planner, made a presentation and received committee member comments on the Margaret Greene splash pad final concept design.

Andrew Miller, Project Engineer, made a presentation and received committee member comments and feedback on the College Avenue protected cycling infrastructure.

    That the AAC request that more information be provided before the committee supports the design, and consideration for year-round weather maintenance be included, as well as yielding for cyclists to pedestrians and bus users, and more information about disability aids getting through the protected intersection safely be included.

Daniel Waters, Trails Technologist, made a presentation and received committee member comments and feedback on the draft design for trail curb cut standard.

    That the AAC supports the draft designs for the Trail Curb Cut Standard, and that city staff consider installation of curb cuts at locations identified through public engagement as well as the Steffler Park location.

Ian Scott, Manager, Facility Design and Construction, made a presentation and received committee member comments on the South End Community Centre Recreational Trail and Design Update.

    That the AAC reviewed the multi-use trail design, and recommend that accessible seating be looked at as part of the design, and the Committee supports it.

Jean Starchuk, Program Manager, provided a presentation and received committee member comments on the Riverside Park Bandshell Renovations and New Trails.

    That the AAC supports renovations to the existing Riverside Park Bandshell and Bandshell Washrooms and the new trail design and would like to see if the entire stage can be made accessible to be considered as part of the design.

1. The Guelph Barrier Free Committee Access Recognition Awards (ARAs) are back! Nominations open Tuesday, September 5 and close Tuesday, October 10.

2. Emma Street to Earl Street Bridge Project Update: Approval has been received from the Ministry of Environment, Conservation and Parks to proceed with the Emma to Earl Bridge Project. The Minister of the Environment, Conservation and Parks denied the Order request under Section 16 of the Environmental Assessment Act. Staff are expected to return to the AAC regarding this project in October 2023.
